Sadly, many of you will have already heard that we have lost our beloved friend and committee member, Simon Crichton, who died at home on Monday evening.
Our thoughts, love and support are with his wife Clare, son Harry and daughter Emily.
Simon was hugely passionate about Wigginton. Among other things he had been Chair of Governors at St Bart’s School where his children attended before we were lucky enough for him to become involved in establishing our community shop & cafe.
Simon had an incredible ability to make things happen. He was part of the original team that formed the founding committee. He wrote our business plan, oversaw the build; and managed every aspect of our finances, providing financial information that gave us the confidence to make sound decisions.
We wouldn’t be where we are without his fantastic insights, expertise, advice, opinions and his humour. Oh, how we had fun.
One of Simon’s passions was Summershed Brewery. Having converted a shed in the back garden, Simon developed a number of handcrafted ales, all inspired by the local area. His beers are so popular, that he expanded his microbrewery last year to meet demand to supply our shop and others in the area, as well as a number of local pubs too.
So many people knew and loved Simon and have offered his family and us their support. We will continue to be guided by his family as to how we can help them through such a difficult time.
